Edward VI (1547-53), Fine Sovereign (of 20-Shillings), third period, 'Crown Gold' [22ct], 11.22g, m.m. Y (Schneider I, 690; N.1927 S.2450), a striking piece with crisp portrait and legend detail framed by a pleasing underlying reddish-pink hue, near very fine, rare.
The Y Mintmark is five times rarer than mintmark tun on the third period Sovereigns of Edward VI.
