(g) George V (1910-36), Sovereign, 1925 (Marsh 220; S.3996), almost uncirculated.
Although the 1925 Sovereign is the last dated Sovereign to be struck at the London mint prior to Britain dropping the gold standard in 1931, the dies remained in stores until the early 1950s. When Sovereigns were struck in 1949, 1951 and 1952, they were all dated 1925. In essence besides being the last 'London' Currency sovereign, the 1925 issue is also the only business striking available for the George VI series too.
Estimate: £270 - £300
