William the Conqueror (1066-87), Penny, 'Two Sceptres' type, Leicester, Æthelwine, rev. + ÆGELPINE ON LEGRI (SCBI [Ashmolean], 61 same dies; BNJ [1910], pl. XXI, no. 12 same dies; N.844; BMC IV; S.1253), a small flan split at 10 o'clock and a trace of surface porosity, otherwise a sharp and uniform strike and ultimately pleasing coin, a bold very fine, very rare.
