Punch Marked Coin, Vanga Janapada (550-450 BC), Mahasthangarh type, East Bengal/Northern Bangladesh Region, Brahmaputra river group, Silver 1/2 Karshapana, ABCD type, Obv: four punch-marks consisting of the sun, a six-armed symbol, a bold taurine and a right facing bird symbol, Rev: uniface, 2.03g, 18.89mm, (T. Hardekar, 2019 # Series 1B-BR 15), about extremely fine, Extremely Rare.
Note: About 20 pieces of this variety, mainly consisting of the subtype with these four symbols, were found with vimshatikas in the Mahasthangarh region, and while it is plausible that the two varieties are from separate hoards, this is uncertain due to insufficient information. Offered for the first time in any Indian auction!
