ROMAN REPUBLIC

ROMAN REPUBLIC. Lot of Roman Republic Silver Coinage, ca. 260-90 B.C.
Approximately 102 pieces in lot. An incredible assortment of coins, all attributed to Sydenham by the consignor, and ranging from Sydenham-1 to Sydenham 597, or a ca. 260 B.C. anonymous Didrachm of the Republic through a Denarius of M.[Porcius] Cato, circa 93-91 B.C. The preponderance of the coins are Denarii, but among the earlier issues are Didrachms, Drachms, Victoriati, AR Sestertii, and Quinarii. The range of moneyers and reverse types is quite broad, while the majority of obverse types are some form of Roma head, as one might surmise from the time period and Sydenham numbers represented in this lot. Each coin is in the original collector's envelope or other holder. The quality of the coins varies greatly, with some pieces showing surface impairments, but the great preponderance of the pieces are rather decent and exhibit normal circulation wear. A must see lot that will be ideal as an instant collection of Roman Republic coinage. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Grades range VERY GOOD-EXTREMELY FINE, averageVERY FINE.

Estimate: $2000
