ROMAN REPUBLIC. Lot of Roman Republic Silver Coinage, ca. 90-60 B.C.
98 pieces in lot. Composed chiefly of Denarii, this amazingly diverse lot includes several Quinarii as well. This portion of the Weigel Collection features pieces in the range of Sydenham-598 to Sydenham-883, starting with a Denarius of L. Thorius Balbus and ending with a Denarius of Faustus Cornelius Sulla. All pieces show some circulation wear, with many pieces showing some surface impairments, but the majority of the coins are pleasing specimens of their types. Several much scarcer types are included, making this an ideal starter collection for a collector looking to jump headlong into the Roman Republican silver series. One piece is a modern copy, all others are genuine. SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS. FINE-ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
