ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.73 g), issued 147-146 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 115-4 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, bunch of grapes to right, **g* reversed on amphora, legend across **A QE*, to left **MHT/ RODW/ ROS/ PUR/ ROS*, to right **DH/ MOS/ QE* recut over **MIL/ TIA/ DHS*, ME* below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 635a [same dies Pl.66], same dies in ANS collection). Bright, extremely fine and rare.
