RIC-24c; Calico-1411; cf.Sear-3884 (obverse legend). This reverse type depicts the deified portrait of Hadrian's adoptive father, the late emperor Trajan. The use of this symbolism was not only to honor Hadrian's deceased father, but also to solidify public opinion of him as the new emperor of Rome.
