Leopold I silver Proof Pattern 5 Francs 1832 PR62 Cameo NGC, Brussels mint, KM-Unl., Dupriez-2 var. (R2; there, with lettered edge), Bogaert-8 var. (same). Plain edge. Medal alignment. By Braemt. An intriguing and seemingly altogether unpublished pattern lacking the usual incuse edge lettering that characterizes this series. Perhaps similarly meant to serve as a sort of presentation piece, much as Dupriez describes the piefort version of the pattern, the devices are overlaid with a delicate mint frost while the fields resound with mirrorlike reflectivity, suggesting that anyone who encountered this piece would have been duly impressed.
