Edward the Black Prince gold Leopard d'Or ND (1362-1372) AU58 PCGS, Bordeaux mint, Fr-11, Elias-140, W&S-150 3/c. 3.46gm. + ЄD': P'mO: GnIS: RЄGIS: AnGLIЄ : P'nCPS : AQITANIЄ (double rosette stops), crowned leopard passant left, raising right forepaw, within tressure of 10 arches, quatrefoils on points and within spandrels; double quatrefoil stops / + XP'C: VInCIT: XP'C: RЄGnAT: XP'C: IMPЄRAT•, floriate cross within quatrefoil, leopards passant in angles. Struck under Edward the "Black Prince", eldest son of Edward III and military commander in France during the Hundred Years War. Produced on a high-quality flan, well-struck and admirably centered, with sharp central detailing and only minute sections of peripheral weakness. Rare in this condition, and a sought-after type for both this reason and due to its immense historical importance.
