A state of preservation that proves thoroughly difficult to surpass, the 1893 5 Pounds not only represents the introductory date for Thomas Brock's acclaimed 'Widow Head' portrait, but also the final Proof 5 Pounds of the aging Queen's reign. Aside from some very minor contact on Victoria's cheek, this piece appears very nearly gem, die polish detectable closer to the protected regions around the devices, and displaying a night-and-day cameo contrast that entirely entrances the viewer.
