Starting with mintages up to 500 coins at max in the 1920s and decreasing substantially to 50 in 1930 and eventually only 20 in the years 1938 to 1941, these issues remain significantly scarcer than their circulation issue counterparts, which saw millions or even tens of millions produced. Sharing the common characteristics of high technical grades and light surface tones, with not a single specimen receiving below a choice certification, 27 pieces awarded gem status, and several ranking as the single finest in the PCGS census, this incredible offering represents the most extensive selection of Italian coins which we have ever offered as a single lot and the first complete set of all silver and nickel collector coins ever offered at auction, meticulously assembled by a collector who painstakingly bought them all from the mint nearly 100 years ago.
