West Friesland. Provincial Ducaton 1673 MS63+ NGC, Private mint of Dirk Bosch in Enkhuizen, KM63.2, Dav-4941A, Delm-1021b. Edge lettered. A masterfully produced private striking seeming to far outrank the style and quality of execution of the official ducatons and other silver crowns of West Friesland from the period, appearing quite medallic and nearly pattern-like. Practically Prooflike when viewed head-on, it almost seems an understatement to say that this coin clearly deserves its plus designation. We have offered only one finer, an MS64, as part of the Eric P. Newman collection, which brought $17,625 in January 2014.
