Christian IV Speciedaler 1648-PG AU58 NGC, Christiania mint, KM12 (incorrectly given as KM12a on insert), Dav-3534, Hede-5B, Sieg-16.4, ABH-49, Thesen-49. With initials "PG" for Peter Gruner, mintmaster 1643-1650. An offering of singular beauty for the type, which features the revered Dano-Norwegian King Christian IV prominently in the center, crowned and framed by precisely chiseled legends cloaked in glassy obsidian luster. Inspection at an angle unveils a soft expression of faint crimson and blue undertones which grip the struck features, these towering above the fields and virtually without signs of wear except to the absolute highest points. An altogether delightful representative, and one bound to draw the close attention of both collectors of 17th-century crowns and the Norwegian series alike.
