Christian IV Speciedaler 1648-PG AU58 NGC, Christiania mint, KM12 (incorrectly given as KM12a on insert), Dav-3534, Hede-5B, Sieg-16.4, ABH-49, Thesen-49. With initials "PG" for Peter Gruner, mintmaster 1643-1650. An offering of singular beauty for the type, which features the revered Dano-Norwegian King Christian IV prominently in the center, crowned and framed by precisely chiseled legends cloaked in glassy obsidian luster. Inspection at an angle unveils a soft expression of faint crimson and blue undertones which grip the struck features, these towering above the fields and virtually without signs of wear except to the absolute highest points.
