Nicholas I gold Specimen "Marriage of Alexander Nikolaevich and Maria Alexandrovna" Medal 1841 SP60 PCGS, St. Petersburg mint, Bit-M902, Sev-440, Smirnov-513, Diakov-563.2 (R5). 36mm. By H. Gube. Mintage: 250. Celebrating the marriage of the tsar's son Alexander (the future Alexander II) to Maria of Hesse-Darmstadt. Jugate busts of Alexander and Maria left / crowned shield with ciphers of Alexander and Maria, cupid holding bow to right, Pysche with lilies to left. A most distinguished and elusive medal in gold, reportedly produced exclusively for distribution to guests of the wedding. Most elusive in all states with only 3 certified by PCGS, we have been able to trace only a small handful having come to auction in the last several decades.
