Dutch Colony Counterstamped 3 Reaal (c. 1800) VF20 PCGS, KM7, Scholten-1368, Prid-pg. 251, Fig. 25. 6.38gm. Five-petalled rosace in circle countermarked (XF Detail) on 1/4 cut of 8 Reales issue of Charles III. By order of Governor J. K. Lauffer (1799-1803), 7,000 Dollars were cut into equal parts by goldsmith H. J. Hoyer and were declared current at 3 Reaals or 18 Stuivers. The local name given to these as referred to in public notices was "Guillotinos". The countermark is well-placed and atypically bold, even the dots between the petals fully visible.
