Weimar Republic gold Specimen "Cologne Cathedral" Medal 1928 SP63 PCGS, Weiler-3836. Commemorating the 680th anniversary of the foundation stone of the Cologne Cathedral, featuring the image of the first master mason Gerhard von Rile. Frequently offered in silver (Weiler-377) but almost unseen in this gold format. Deeply mirrored surfaces provide a stark contrast to the frosted devices, interrupted only by a patch of haze on the reverse that accounts for the grade. Struck in 0.900 fine gold.
