Sardinia. Vittorio Emanuele II 5 Lire 1859 (Anchor)-P MS64 NGC, Genoa mint, KM144.2, Dav-137, MIR-1057r (R). Seemingly a more difficult date for the type than either the Standard Catalog of World Coins or Monete Italiane Regionali indicate, particularly at this level, carrying only the third smallest mintage in Vittorio Emanuele II's 5 Lire series. To-date, only one other piece has been certified in Mint State by NGC (an MS63), making the current offering, with its satin finish and engaging russet tones, the finest graded.
