Republic silver "Deliverance of Simon Bolivar from Assassination" Medal 1828-Dated (1829) UNC Details (Removed From Jewelry) NGC, Fonrobert-Unl., Urdanta Braschi-I.A.12. 45mm. Struck to honor Bolivar's aide, L.D. Palacios, for delaying Bolivar's would-be assassin long enough for him to escape, although the act is more properly attributed to Bolivar's mistress, Manuela Saenz. A very rare and significant medal within the country's history, often found damaged and very difficult in higher grades, only around 12-20 believed to be known. This is only the second we have offered, the Dresden specimen, also graded UNC Details, bringing $7200.
