BRUTUS. AR Denarius (3.97 gms), Rome Mint, 54 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5. Light Scratches.
Cr-433/1; Syd-906a. Obverse: Head of Libertas right; Reverse: The consul L. Junius Brutus advancing left between two lictors, each carrying axe over shoulder, and preceded by an accensus. Offering a light cabinet tone and some shimmering iridescence, this delightful specimen presents a much better centered strike than is generally encountered. The light scratches are in no way distracting, and should not prevent this example from garnering a good deal spirited bidding.
Includes old collector's ticket referencing a purchase from 'C. J. Thieme, April 1910.'
Estimate: $600.00- $900.00
