AUGUSTUS WITH AGRIPPA, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14. Gaul, Nemausus. AE Dupondius (11.27 gms), ca. 16-10 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5. Adjusted Flan.
RIC-157; RPC-1, 523. Obverse: Heads of Agrippa left, wearing rostral crown and laurel wreath, and Augustus right, wearing oak wreath, back to back; Reverse: Crocodile right chained to palm frond with short fronds; wreath with long ties above, palms fronds below. An always popular type with Augustus and his best friend, Agrippa, this bronze issue features charming apple green surfaces along with no real distractions. Some adjustment marks are noted, as well as an edge split, but get in the way of overall allure.
