KM-30. An instantly captivating coin, possessing a strike that is as sharp as possible, with stunning satin texture in the fields that is without imperfection and absolutely glows as one turns the coin beneath a light. Upon closer inspection, a thin veneer of lacquer, presumably mint applied as was commonplace on early presentation issues, is seen, and helps explain how the surfaces have remained so intensely frosty over the decades. Without question, one of the finest examples of this elusive and historic first circulating Canadian Dollar type extant; expect spirited bidding!

A coin with a notable history of its own, this piece was once owned by John Newman, who sold it Saul Hendler and then to Sandy Campbell in 1988. Sometime later, it was acquired by Jack Alston, who at the time was assembling what would become the finest specimen dollar collection. Although possibly ill-timed, the collection was sold during a market low-point in 2001, yet this coin still brought an impressive $11,500 in that sale.
