FRANCE. Agnel d'Or, ND (1417-1422). Mirabel Mint. Charles VI. NGC AU-50.
Fr-290; Dupl-372. Weight: 2.55 gms. Upon close inspection there seems to be a minor variety in the stops, ":", of the obverse legend, it appears that the top portion of the each stop is solid with the bottom being an annulet; a neat variation apparently not listed in Duplessy. The piece exhibits an uneven strike with areas of flatness in the central designs and legends. Attractive pale orange-gold coloration with a few small areas of brightness on the high points and crevasses adds to the eye appeal of the moderately handled survivor giving it a good look.
This agnel d'or is from the first emission of May 10, 1417. For the second emission of October 21, the fineness was reduced from 0.958 to 0.916.
Estimate: $700.00- $1000.00
