FRANCE. Anglo-Gallic. Salut d'Or, ND (1422-49). St. Lo Mint; im: Lis. Henry VI. NGC MS-66.
Fr-301; Dupl-443a; Ciani-598. Weight: 3.48 gms. Obverse: Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary above the coats-of-arms of England and France; Reverse: Cross within multifoil; lis to left, leopard to right, 'H' below. Astounding quality, preserved as if it were struck yesterday, with dazzling yellow-golden surfaces that are free from any signs of handling. Featuring an admirable strike as well, the designs are perfectly centered on the flan, with the important central rendering of the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary showcasing breathtaking boldness. An even more concentrated study reveals evidence of a flip-over double strike, with a slight remnant of the obverse shields visible in the reverse fields.

Duplessy notes that the St. Lo mint struck this type 1422-49. In 1449, the French recaptured the town from the English.

Estimate: $3500.00- $5000.00
