GERMANY. Brandenburg. Ducat, 1681-HS. Konigsberg Mint. Frederick William "the Great Elector" of Brandenburg. PCGS Genuine--Holed, EF Details Gold Shield.
Fr-2266 (under Prussia); KM-414. A neat type that seldom appears on the market place exhibiting a bold strike with plenty of detail. Pierced near the rim at 11 on the obverse as noted on the PCGS insert with a somewhat wavy flan. Despite its shortcomings a handsome survivor of this VERY RARE type sure to see spirited bidding from advanced collectors.

Frederick William was very well liked by the citizens of Brandenburg and was popularly known as "the Great Elector" for his political achievements and military prowess. He vigorously promoted trade and was associated with the rising commercial class. His brilliant domestic policies and reforms set Prussia up with a strong political position in north-central Europe which paved the way for elevation from Duchy to Kingdom under his son.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
