Gaed-1665. Diameter: 52 mm. Weight: 34.66 gms. By Anton Meybusch. Dated in Chronogram in the obverse legend (CCCVMCCIIXXCVILIVIV=1695) and Roman numerals in the exergue on the reverse. Alter with open book flanked by two females, one holding a scale standing on Medusa right with the other holding lightning left, radiant all seeing eye within clouds above, P.B.M. (Peter Burmester, the oldest bank citizen) in exergue, legend around "CERTA RECTAE FACTORVM CONSCIENTIA ARX EXCVTIENS LIVORIS ASTVS"; Reverse: Arms of Hamburg flanked by the arms of the four mayors, names on ribbons below each, eagle holding scepter and globus cruciger above, legend around "PRO. SALUTE. SENATUS. POPULIQ. HAMBURGENSIS", two line inscription in exergue. A highly attractive massive gold issue with an intricate boldly struck motif exhibiting signs of handling consistent for the assigned grade. Pervasive light attractive honey-gold tone complemented by hints of pale orange coloration amongst the devices and bright luster in the protected areas. A tough to locate issue that's pleasing to the eye as well -- surely destined for an advanced collection as such!
