GREAT BRITAIN. George III Coronation Gold Medal, 1761. London Mint. PCGS Genuine--Damage, AU Details Gold Shield.
BHM-22; Eimer-694. By L. Natter. Mintage: 858. Obverse: GEORGIVS III D G M BRI FRA ET HIB REX F D, laureate, draped, and armored bust right / PATRIAE OVANTI, George seated left on throne, holding scepter and being crowned by Britannia standing to left; trident and Union shield to left; to outer right, lion seated facing, with forepaw upon orb; in two lines in exergue, CORON XXII SEPT / MDCCLXI. Though exhibiting some scuffs and light marks in the fields resulting in the damage designation, an otherwise charming representative of this meager output. Of the 858 produced in gold, 558 were presented to House members, while the remaining 300 were distributed at the coronation ceremony.
