GREAT BRITAIN. William IV & Adelaide Coronation Gold Medal, 1831. London Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield.
BHM-1475; Eimer-1251. By W. Wyon. Effective Mintage: 965. Obverse: WILLIAM THE FOURTH CROWNED SEP 8 1831, bare head of William right; Reverse: ADELAIDE QUEEN CONSORT CROWNED SEP 8 1831, diademed head of Adelaide right. One of the few issues featuring both king and queen, this choice piece presents a great deal of brilliance and tremendous radiance, along with some subtle frosting to the devices. Some light handing is noted, but each instance is entirely consistent with the issue and the grade assigned, though, for completeness, a minor rim bruise on the reverse is noted as well.
