NORWAY. Order of St. Olaf II Class Commander's Badge with Swords. Instituted 1847 (Type 2; 1905-1937). EXTREMELY FINE.
Barac-91; Werlich-982; Vernon-20. Dimensions: 98 x 61 mm. Eight-pointed white enamel cross, each point ball-tipped. A crowned letter O is positioned between each pair of arms. An axe-bearing rampant lion appears on the central red medallion, and crossed swords are added on the upper pair of points. The badge is suspended from a lion-topped crown. A gold suspension is attached to the back of the lion, and is marked with a hallmark and 750. The reverse of the badge is similar, except the lion is replaced by the inscription RET / OG / SANDHED. The central enamels are complete and undamaged.
