RUSSIA. "Heavy" Ruble, 1797-CM OU. St. Petersburg Mint. Paul I. NGC MS-63.
KM-C-101; Bit-18. A SCARCE one-year type in outstanding overall quality and as such should be considered RARE. Tsar Paul I "heavy" Ruble issued at the dawn of his five-year reign, struck the year of his coronation. A beautiful survivor of the type with flashy brilliance and crisp frosty devices. The surfaces exhibit a thin veneer of mottled soft grey tone in the central areas while the peripheries possess a lovely sheen of magenta that transitions to slate grey near edges. The overall quality of this piece is fantastic only hindered numerically by a few minor and unobtrusive abrasions marking the grade. A fully original looking example that clearly sat for a prolonged period of time undisturbed displaying great eye appeal adding to its desirability.

Purchased privately from M. Louis Teller (with ticket).

Estimate: $12000.00- $16000.00
