Printed by TDLR. An extraordinary and significant opportunity to own a crushingly rare 5 Shillings note issued by the Leeward Islands. King

George V is found at top center, with "5/-" counters at left and right. The face is printed in a dark red and light gray ink, with good detail and appeal still found. The reverse shows the design printed in dark green ink, and displays arms at center with "5/-" denominations at left and right.

This note was last offered in Spinks 2009 World Bank Note sale. So with a little over a decade passing between the time this note was last offered only helps to reaffirm and highlight just how rare this example is, and collectors might not get another opportunity to bid on this example for quite some time as notes of this caliber are usually tightly held and rarely leave the collection they enter.

The Leeward Islands are a group of islands located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea. The Leewards became a British colony in 1671, and was later dissolved as a colony in 1816 but were later reformed in 1833. From 1833 to 1871, the Governor of Antigua assumed the powers and duties for the Governor of the Leeward Islands. Today, the islands are governed by a number of national & colonial administrations.
