Printed by TDLR. The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money lists this note as "Rare," which is an understatement given that typically only specimens and proofs of this type are offered for sale. Thus, we are pleased to offer this fully issued and crushingly rare issued example for auction.

The face of the note displays King George V at center, flanked on both sides by "5/-" counters, with the bank name above the portrait and the denomination spelled out below the portrait. Two signatures are found at the bottom, with serial numbers at left and right. The face is printed in a light green ink, with the main design printed in a dark purple ink. The reverse displays the islands seal at center surrounded by an ornate design, with "5/-" obligations at left and right surrounded by starburst vignettes, which are printed in dark blue ink. Overall, this Very Fine example offers pleasing qualities and details one would expect for the grade. We expect spirited bidding on this piece as notes of this caliber seldom trade hands.

Saint Lucia is an island in the eastern Caribbean sea, and was granted its independence from England on February 22, 1979. The Island's first European settlers were the French, and later the English (the island exchanged hands seven times during wars between France and England). An interesting tidbit of history of the island is during the Second World War, a German U-Boat sank two ships in Castries harbor on the 9th of March, 1942. After independence in 1979, the island elected to remain a British Commonwealth and to retain Queen Elizabeth as their monarch.
