GREAT BRITAIN. Charles II Coronation Silver Medal, 1661. London Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield.
MI-472/76; Eimer-221. By T. Simon. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust right, wearing Chain of the Garter; Reverse: Charles, wearing royal robes, seated left on throne, being crowned by Victory flying to right from above. Incredibly attractive and appealing, this piece features alluring cabinet toning with a good deal of lustrous brilliance remaining. Outside of some minor rub on the highest points--something that generally does not detract from a Mint State designation with regard to medals--this specimen would appear, in the opinion of this cataloger, to be massively undergraded. A premium quality piece for the grade assigned. To view all items from the Duke of Lansing Collection, click here.
