GREAT BRITAIN. Anne Coronation Silver Medal, 1702. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield.
MI-228/4; Eimer-390. By J. Croker. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust left; Reverse: Anne (as Pallas-Athena) standing right, holding shield and hurling thunderbolt at two-headed and four-armed serpentine monster (James 'III' and Louis XIV) to right, holding rocks and clubs. A rather alluring example, this exceptionally choice piece is tied with just one other for the highest graded across both services. Pleasingly toned with steel gray surfaces and some subtle cobalt and burgundy hues. To view all items from the Duke of Lansing Collection, click
