GREAT BRITAIN. Great Britain - Peru. Dollar, ND (1797). Bank of England. George III. PCGS VF-30 Gold Shield; Countermark: XF Details.
S-3765A; KM-637. Type I countermark; bust of George II within oval indent on a 1790-LIMA IJ Peru transitional bust 8 Reales of Charles III. SCARCE three year type host coin. The countermark is deeply impressed with good definition of the details almost perfectly centered on the neck of Charles III. A moderately handled example displaying nice even wear exhibiting light even grey tone complemented by mottled iridescent hues. A neat host coin type that shows up from time to time, but is far less encountered than the normal Charles III or Charles IV issues sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.
