ROMAN EMPIRE

CONSTANTIUS II, A.D. 337-361. AV Barbarous Imitation Solidus (3.69 gms), Antioch Mint, ca. Late 4th Century A.D.
cf.RIC-165. Helmeted, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantius facing three-quarters right, holding spear and shield; Reverse: Roma enthroned facing, Constantinopolis enthroned left, inscribed shield between. A fairly close rendition of a genuine solidus. However, the style of the portrait is a bit off as is the horse on the emperor's shield. Additionally, the legend is missing a few letters and is just a bit garbled.VERY FINE.

Estimate: $1200
