RIC-571. Laureate head of Trajan right; Reverse: The Circus Maximus showing outer colonnade and partial view of the interior, on spina, central obelisk flanked on the ends by metae. Struck to commemorate the completion of the restoration of the Circus Maximus which had been damaged during the great fire of A.D. 80. Well centered with full legends and all pertinent details visible. Dark brown and green patina with somewhat lighter brown on the high points. Some scratches, defects and areas of porosity. VERY RARE and extremely popular type.ALMOST VERY FINE.
