CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.55 g, 7 h), imitating Philip III of Macedon. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛE[ΩΣ] / ΦIΛIΠΠΟΥ Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; below throne, monogram; to left, two monograms. Dembski -. Flesche 740 var. (differing monograms). Lanz -. OTA 579/6. Nicely toned and struck in high relief. Two very minor old scrapes on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
