Faustina I, Diva. Denarius; Faustina I, Diva; Died 140 AD, Rome, Denarius, 3.17g. BM-473, C-175, RIC-384. Obv: DIVA - FAVSTINA Bust draped r. Rx: CONSEC - RATIO Peacock standing r., head l., on scepter with knobs on both ends. Strack-453 is clearly right to say peacock standing on scepter, since the knobs at the ends of the scepter are clearly rendered e.g. on the aureus BM-471 pl. 10.10 and on the present denarius. Cohen, followed by RIC and BMC, says peacock walking r., misinterpreting the scepter as a groundline.. MS
