Islamic Dynasties
Arab-Sasanian Dynasty, lot of three (3) silver drachms. (1) Arab-Sasanian, Khusro type, silver drachm (3.97g, 31mm), bism Allah but with flower replacing rabbi in ObQ3, BYŠ (Bishapur), AH50, A‑5. Note: This variety may represent possible uncertainty in AH50, when Ziyad b. Abi Sufyan altered the coinage in his territories, including Bishapur, replacing Khusro with his own name Ziyad b. Abi Sufyan right of the obverse bust. From Stephen Album Rare Coins, 2010. // (2) Arab-Sasanian, Khusro type, rabbi Allah, silver drachm (4.15g, 31mm), GD (Jayy), year 37, A‑B6. Note: The year 37 is possibly of the Yazdigerd era (AD 668/669), thus within the governorship of Ziyad b. Abi Sufyan. // (3) Arab-Sasanian, 'Ubayd Allah b. Ziyad, 54-64 / 673-683, silver drachm (4.04g, 31mm), BCRA (al-Basra), AH59, four pellets after bism Allah in ObQ2, A-12. Note: Al-Basra was the most common mint for 'Ubayd Allah, for drachms dated AH56-63, but was a very rare mint for all other Arab-Sasanian issues. From Stephen Album Rare Coins, 2010. Average grade Good Extremely Fine.
