ROMAN EMPIRE. Bronze Oil lamp. Ca. 2-3rd century AD with a pear-shaped body and a broad rounded end that tapers in and then sharply outwards towards where it intersects with a smaller rounded head, in pristine shape and condition for its age. A filling hole in circular shape is incised through the center of the oil lamp. A circular base over which the weight of the lamp is concentrated is situated underneath. A lid covers the hole on the center in addition to three bronze Roman style chains attached in four spots including the lid to hang. This fabulous ancient oil lamp is embellished with a stunning natural fine dark green patina. The followings are the dimensions of the ancient Roman bronze oil lamp with lid and chain: Width: 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) Height: 2 inches (5.8 cm); Height with the chain: 7 inches (18 cm); Depth: 2 inches (5.8 cm) Weight: 166 grams.
