Mainly in green featuring a portrait of Lord Ilay (Frist Governor) at right and the Bank's Head office building in the underprint and as silver foil security device. The reverse with an illustration of Inverness Castle and a Scottish thistle to lower left which according to the legend clearly connotes bravery, courage, and loyalty in the face of treachery.
