Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (17g), ca. 440-404 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet ornamented with laurel leaves and vine. Reverse: AΘE, owl standing right, head facing, olive sprig and crescent moon behind; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1597; SNG Cop. 31-40; Kroll 8. Boldly struck in high relief with a large flan crack at 1 o'clock as made. NGC calls this a 'test cut', Untoned. NGC graded Choice AU; Strike 5/5, Surface 2/5 light-weight specimen, brushed, test cut. Estimated Value $400 - UP
