Israel, 1976 Sixth International Harp Competition Gold Medal by Chagall. This magnificent official State Medal's obverse features the word "Harp" (Nevel), with the "Bet" forming the figure of a harp, and an inscription in French. The reverse is Chagall's representation of "King David," with the crown on the king's head connected to a figure resembling a hen that is strumming the harp with its tail; and below is Chagall's signature. This is the only medal designed and signed by Chagall. The mintage is only 600, with content of 30 gm. of .900 fine gold. 35 mm. Gem Cameo Proof quality, as issued, in original olive wood presentation case. Currently priced at over $2000 on the Israel Coins and Medals Corp. website. Estimated Value $1,250 - UP
