Palestine, Partial Set of Rare Jerusalem Hotel Tokens, c. 1880's. Includes brass 1/4 and 1 Piaster (Haffner CC-15A & C). The Jerusalem Hotel was owned by a member of the Templars. Haffner writes: "It is believed that Von Hardegg obtained a license for the issue of the tokens from the Turkish authorities by depositing money as a guarantee. These tokens were accepted [as money] in Jerusalem, as well as Jaffa." Our consignor paid $1500 for these decades ago. Extremely Rare. Each Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $1,000 - UP
