A very scarce and desirable 19th century type, this represents the initial cataloged banknote for British North Borneo. The manuscript signature bottom right remains clear despite extensive circulation. The quality of paper used for these banknotes was poor, and coupled with the equatorial climate in which they circulated typically resulted in this well-worn appearance.
