India Reserve Bank of India, Bombay 1000 Rupees ND (1954-57) Pick 46a Jhunjhunwalla-Razack 6.9.1A PMG Very Fine 30. This large format, high denomination type is scarce today, as its purchasing power prevented notes from being saved for posterity. While the general design elements of this denomination remained unchanged from 1954 until the 1970s, there are many subtle variations that keep collectors engaged. For example, this is the first variety for the denomination, issued in 1954. It has the first language panel at back and a grammatically incorrect Hindi text at front center. All Bombay issued notes have the A prefix. Typical pinholes are seen, along with other standard signs of circulation. The notations and ink stamps are commonplace for such a large denomination banknote. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/india-reserve-bank-of-india-bombay-1000-rupees-nd-1954-57-pick-46a-jhunjhunwalla-razack-691a-pmg-very-fine-30/a/4025-28400.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4025 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
