Qatar & Dubai Currency Board 50 Riyals ND (ca. 1960) Pick 5s Specimen PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. This always sought-after and rarely seen denomination is doubly desirable in Specimen format, as only a scant few are extant today. At the time of cataloging, this example is bettered by only two Specimen in the PMG Population Report, of only six notes submitted. Black bilingual overprints are seen on each side, along with a hole punched cancellation. Both issued and Specimen examples only feature the A/1 prefix, which should hint at the rarity of this denomination. The Qatar & Dubai Currency Board issued banknotes from 1966 until Dubai entered the United Arab Emirates in 1973, at which time new currencies were issued there, as well as in Qatar. After the issuance of the new currencies, there was a 90 day window of parallel circulation, following by withdrawal of the old banknotes, making examples very scarce today. We have not previously offered this type in Specimen form.
