A note from BCD: Raven called it "...an unusually interesting hoard..." and this is certainly an understatement. The fact that it was found on Crete and combined Greek and Roman coins was already a recipe for success when it came to publishing it and the historical background is almost more fascinating than its numismatic rarities.
