Tetradrachm, Pella circa 286-281, AR 17.15 g. Diademed head of deified Alexander r., with the horn of Ammon. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ – ΛYΣIMAXOY Athena enthroned l., holding Nike and spear in r. hand and resting l. elbow on shield decorated with medusa; in inner l. field, monogram within wreath and in exergue, monogram. Thompson 250. Müller 304 var. (positions of monogram).
A very rare variety missing from most published collections. A bold portrait struck
in high relief and a lovely iridescent tone, extremely fine
